Reiner Ruthenbeck (* 1937 in Velbert, † 2016 in Ratingen) started his career as photographer. He was well known as sculptor and concept artist. He studied at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf in the class of Joseph Beuys from 1962 to 1968. From 1980 to 2000 he was professor at the Kunstakademie Münster. He was awarded serveral times, among others with the Will-Grohmann-Preis of the Academy of Arts in Berlin (1987) and the Wilhelm-Lehmbruck-Award of the City of Duisburg (2006). His very individual works were shown at many international exhibitions.
